The 2024 Girls in STEM Film Fest group of students and instructors.

Celebrating Creativity at Girls in STEM: Film Fest!

_____________

This September, we celebrated another successful year of Girls in STEM: Film Fest, an annual program dedicated to empowering young filmmakers from 4th to 8th grade. In partnership with Breck Film, this event provided a platform for these talented girls to explore the art of storytelling through film.

Throughout the weekend, participants learned how to produce, film, and edit their very own short films. The energy was electric as each group brought their unique ideas to life! From brainstorming sessions to editing workshops, the program fostered a supportive and creative environment where our young filmmakers could thrive.

With guidance from experienced mentors, they navigated the creative process, experimenting with different techniques and discovering the magic behind the camera. The themes of the films varied widely, showcasing their imagination and innovative spirit. It was inspiring to see how each group expressed their perspectives, with stories ranging from heartfelt narratives to exciting adventures.

The culmination of their hard work was showcased during the Breckenridge Film Festival, where the films were screened for family, friends, and fellow filmmakers. The pride on the participants’ faces was contagious as they watched their creations come to life on the big screen. It was a truly special moment, celebrating not just their achievements but also their passion for STEM and the arts.

We invite you to watch these fantastic short films and support our young filmmakers! You can view the films here. Each film is a testament to the creativity, teamwork, and dedication that these young girls brought to the project.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Girls in STEM: Film Fest! We can’t wait to see what these talented filmmakers will create next. Stay tuned for more exciting programs and events in the future!
