About the Dillon Ranger District
The Dillon Ranger District is part of the White River National Forest and plays a critical role in protecting and managing public lands in Summit County. Covering over 300,000 acres, the district provides recreation, conservation, and education efforts for locals and visitors alike. With diverse ecosystems ranging from alpine meadows to dense forests, the Dillon Ranger District is home to a variety of wildlife, including elk, black bears, mountain lions, and more. Through programs like this, the Forest Service helps educate the public on sustainable outdoor recreation and conservation efforts to keep our wild places thriving for future generations.
The KSS Speaker Series
This Wildlife Safety talk is the third installment in our ongoing KSS Speaker Series, launched in October 2024, with previous speakers including CAIC forecasters talking about avalanche awareness, and meteorologist discussing snow forecasting. Designed to provide engaging and educational discussions about our local environment, science, and outdoor recreation, these talks are free and open to the public—so bring your friends and family!
Each session brings in experts to share their knowledge, helping us all better understand and appreciate the natural world around us. Don’t miss this chance to learn from Rita Frederick and gain valuable knowledge on wildlife safety!
