Program Overview and Job Summary:
Summer CATCH Camp is a full-day program operating 5 days a week for three sessions (3 weeks each). The program is offered to Summit School District elementary students entering grades 1-5, with priority to students who have participated in our Afterschool program and former Summer CATCH Camp students. CATCH is a nationwide initiative and stands for Coordinated Approach to Child Health. The curriculum is designed to promote healthy physical activity and eating behaviors in children, and it is aimed to equip children with the knowledge and skills to make healthy decisions, all while having fun! Through fun activities and off-site adventures, including swimming, fishing, tumbling, scavenger hunts, tennis, and biking, Summer CATCH Campers will learn as they play, develop new skills, and make friends.
The Summer CATCH Camp Lead Facilitator is responsible for leading daily programs and implementing the camp curriculum. Essential duties include group management, assisting with curriculum design, implementation and oversight, managing day to day program schedules and timeline, snack preparation, and administrative tasks including: tracking participant attendance, parent sign-in and out, surveys, participant communication, and assisting with student transportation.
This position averages approximately 40 hours per week. Programming begins at 8:15am and concludes at 5pm Monday through Friday. Summer CATCH Camp staff may be scheduled anytime between 7:45am and 6pm, Monday through Friday for the program dates as listed below. Staff Training is required.
- Staff Training:
- Evenings on May 29th, May 31st, June 5th and all day on June 7th and June 8th, 2018.
- Program Dates (Monday-Friday):
- Session 1: June 11-June 29, 2018
- Session 2: July 9-July 27, 2018
- Session 3: July 30-August 17, 2018
Our ideal candidate will focus on the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Main areas of focus:
- 70% Program facilitation and group management;
- 10% Activity and curriculum planning;
- 10% Team and time management;
- 5% Snack preparation;
- 5% Administrative tasks.
- Plan, prepare, and teach grade appropriate curricula;
- Emphasis on daily program facilitation of camp curriculum to a diverse group of elementary aged participants;
- Assist with curriculum design, implementation, and oversight;
- Manage daily program curriculum, assigned administrative duties, and scheduled staff break periods;
- Work collaboratively and professionally with a varied group of colleagues;
- Prepare snack using safe food handling procedures;
- Interact with program participants and families with a high level of energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism;
- Communicate clearly and effectively to express concerns and needs to Program Manager and Lead Coordinator;
- Supervise and maintain high standards of health and safety, and follow Risk Management policies in all activities;
- Participate in and pass Van Driver Training, and drive program participants in a 15-passenger van;
- Abide by and uphold the policies and procedures set forth by KSS;
- Other duties as assigned.

Our required education, experience, and certifications:
- Candidates will be asked to provide verification of 520 hours of previous experience working with school-age children;
- Experience with group facilitation, group management, developing curriculum, and leading group activities;
- Must be at least 21 years of age or older;
- Current Wilderness First Aid (WFA) and CPR certifications, from an approved vendor, or the ability to obtain before the first day of employment;
- Excellent driving record and a valid driver’s license;
- Must be able to successfully pass a comprehensive background check.
In addition to the above required talents, our ideal candidate will have these preferred skillsets:
- Experience with group facilitation in an active and dynamic learning environment;
- Professional or personal experience with nutrition, health, movement, and recreation;
- Comprehension of the Spanish language via written and/or verbal form;
- Experience working with persons with special needs;
- Desired computer skills include proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.), Google Drive, and Adobe.
Programming will be held at Silverthorne Elementary where Summer CATCH Camp Lead Facilitators will be required to report to work. Most Facilitators will be required to operate 15 passenger vans to transport campers and gear to off-site fieldtrips.

The office space is small and the employee must have the ability to stay focused while others are working in close proximity. While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works outside in various weather conditions.
Hourly rate of $14.50-$15 per hour (DOE) and approximately 40 hours per week.
