Watch the recap of our recent Girls in STEM Water Wonders program and hear from participating students and mentors!
Our recent Girls in STEM: Water Wonders program last weekend was a splash of inspiration, guiding 4th-8th grade girls and non-binary students into the world of water science and careers in hydrology.
Participants had hands-on experiences in stream restoration and water filtration, working alongside women leading impactful river restoration projects. Mentors included Abbie Wagner from the Upper Blue Sanitation District, Sherry Meshko from the City of Aurora Environmental Education, and Sam Bagge from the Returning Rapids Project. The girls also conducted stream surveys and toured a water treatment facility, gaining an up-close view of essential water processes.
Throughout the program, students connected with inspiring women in water careers who shared their journeys and tips for navigating male-dominated fields. By exploring these diverse paths in hydrology, our young scientists gained new perspectives and confidence, fueling their dreams for a future in STEM.
