School Year Support - Snow Day Policy

Keystone Science School (KSS) strives to put staff and families safety first when it comes to decisions around cancelling programming at the Keystone Science School campus and North Branch Library due to poor weather conditions.

A decision on delaying or cancelling programming is made by the KSS Executive Director, Ellen Reid, in conjunction with assessment of current and future weather and road conditions. Additionally, KSS typically follows the lead of the Summit School District in their assessment of conditions and subsequent programming changes.

  • In an effort to inform families as early as possible, a decision will be made and communicated by 6:30 a.m. All program fees will be refunded in the event of a cancellation.
  • If road conditions are poor, but weather predictions indicate quick improvements, we will initiate a two-hour delay. Parents/Guardians will be responsible for full program fees for a delayed-start day.
  • If there is hazardous weather during the school day, Keystone Science School will reach out to parents/guardians to request an early pick-up by 3:00 p.m. Parents/Guardians will be responsible for full program fees for an early pick-up day.

Families will receive an email from Keystone Science School if the program day is altered due to inclement weather. Please be sure your current email address is accurate and on file with our team or within our registration software. On poor-weather days, please also monitor your emails regularly.

If there is no communication regarding a delayed or cancelled program, parents/guardians can assume that Keystone Science School is operating according to schedule.
