Colorado National Monument is one of our more popular camping field trip locations. The amazing sandstone towers which rise from the valleys create an outdoor classroom which cannot be matched. Students will camp on the rim of the canyon overlooking the vast Colorado River Valley. Just a short drive from Grand Junction or about a 6-hour drive from Denver students will be transplanted to a unique desert environment with sheer rock walls and canyons to explore each day of their field trip experience.

At Colorado National Monument students can learn about earth science and geology along with desert flora and fauna. They can act like time travelers as they hike into the valley, go through 100,000 years of rock layers until they reach the bottom and explore the Precambrian rock which is over 1.7 billion years old known as “basement rock.” Student can also learn about the human history of the area and John Otto first pioneer of the Colorado National Monument and worked to preserve the park for future generations.
